Holmegaards Glasværk

About the manufacturer
Founded in 1825 at Holmegaards Mose near Næstved, Denmark, by Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe, Holmegaard grew into one of Denmark's oldest and most celebrated glassworks, and a defining name in vintage Danish glass. Established to produce bottles using peat fuel from the surrounding marshland, the factory soon expanded into household and table glass, becoming known for its mid-century Scandinavian glassware shaped by designers such as Jacob E. Bang and, from the 1940s, Per Lütken, whose thousands of designs defined the company's aesthetic for decades. Today, original Holmegaard glass vases, carafes and drinking glasses from this era remain highly sought after by collectors of Scandinavian design. Holmegaard merged with the Royal Porcelain Factory in 1985; production ceased in the years that followed, and the brand was acquired by Rosendahl A/S in 2008, which continues it today.
